WESTWOOD — Third-year psychobiology student Neil Korsch is preparing to release a Netflix stand-up comedy special later this month after his critically acclaimed set in a Psych 120A lecture chat over Zoom.

“Oh my god, Neil is hands-down my favorite comedian. Watching him comment ‘mood af’ while I’m trying to concentrate on the lecture is the highlight of my day,” commented fellow student Amy Lerbenberger while waiting in line to purchase limited-edition “Neil Korsch” t-shirts. “When the professor was explaining how smaller hippocampuses correlate with poorer memory and Neil commented ‘LMAO is she talking about me rn?’ I could not stop laughing. Like, how does he come up with this stuff?”

Despite his meteoric rise to fame, Korsch is determined to stay grounded and focus on honing his craft. “Comedy has always been part of who I am,” Korsch said after rehearsing his set in a private Zoom chat. “It’s an incredible feeling to have people take time out of their busy schedules to attend lectures for the sole purpose of reading my jokes in the chat.”

“Part of what makes Neil unique as a performer is his ability to connect with a professor’s audience,” said Netflix CEO Reed Hastings. “Take Neil’s response of ‘so #relatable 😂’ to the professor’s unit on decreased attention span in the digital age. It’s funny because he’s right – it is relatable. And students could identify with the laughing face emoji because their own faces were doing the same thing: laughing. At something that’s funny.”

“This is an excellent example of the quality content that Netflix strives to promote.”

Sources close to Korsch have since reported that the comedian is considering expanding his act to CCLE discussion boards.
