WESTWOOD — This week, local math professor Dr. Ivil has come under fire after scheduling a midterm for Week 4, a week that is definitively not halfway to Week 10. “I just think that students need to be pushed to be their very best, which is why I don’t give them any time to absorb the material or learn anything past rote memorization.” Said Dr. Ivil, while struggling his way through a Kumon fractions worksheet. “Besides, the midterm only counts for 50% of their grade. That’s just a quarter of their grade. They don’t need a curve, a practice test, a cheat sheet, lesson slides, or for me to speak at an audible volume during lectures. And we’re only covering thirteen chapters of the textbook! I’m being quite reasonable.” At press time, Dr. Ivil was scheduling the final exam for week twoteen.
