WESTWOOD — Starting off the new academic year strong, edgy third-year Jacob Shaw explained to his discussion section why they should all give the genocidal rhetoric introduced in last week’s reading “a chance.” “I tried to bring it up multiple times, but like, no one wants to engage in civil debate anymore. I know it’s uncomfortable for some people but I think it’s healthy to debate the merits or faults of eradicating an entire minority group,” said Shaw, referring to a minority group he isn’t part of. “I just wish people saw the world from my point of view, you know? I’m the most open minded person I know and I think that scares a lot of people off,” said Shaw. When later contacted, Shaw was too busy ardently scouring the web for articles supporting his views.
