“Let’s Work On That, Friend!” Roommate Can’t Shake Her Camp Counselor Energy

WESTWOOD — Second-year Education and Social Transformation major Jessica Thomas, better known as Lead Counselor Super Sparkles, came back to campus with a distinct new vocabulary after working at her hometown summer camp, the Fun-in-the-Sun Tots ‘n’ Toddlers Daycare. “When she saw my shoes on the floor, she was like, ‘Hey, friend! It’s not nice to leave our things lying around because other friends might trip on them,’” said her roommate Kitty McAdams, who spent her summer clubbing in Europe and painting nude portraits of DJs. “At first, I found it annoying, but then I showed her one of my paintings, and she said, ‘Wow, kiddo, that’s amazing! I’ll hold on to it and give it to your parents at pick-up time.’” At press time, Sparkles was walking around the tables at Kerckhoff and asking if any silly-gooses needed help opening their lunches.
