Rendezvous DJ To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Enabler reporters who attempted to reach the DJ for comment were met with Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Let’s Groove” playing faintly on the other end of the phone call.

WESTWOOD—After years of fruitless nominations, the popular DJ of UCLA students’ favorite dining facility, Rendezvous, is finally set to receive a lifetime achievement award.

“We really thought this day would never come,” said the manager of the restaurant, Jacob McLevy. “I always knew our DJ was someone special, but I didn’t know if the rest of the world was ready to give them the credit they deserve.”

The legendary DJ has received nominations for many prestigious awards in the past, including a recent nomination for Person of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards. “I’m proud our very own DJ was even in the running, and of course I think Tom Petty is great, but I have to say I think our DJ is more deserving,” said McLevy when asked about the Grammy organization’s decision to award Tom Petty instead. “At least now they’ll get the recognition they deserve.”

The Rendezvous DJ is best known for creating playlists of songs that everyone loves just enough to appreciate but not enough to listen to of their own accord.

“I don’t get a chance to think about how much I love ‘No Scrubs’ by TLC until I hear it,” said first year Karissa Stone. “The music is almost always mediocre at best, but it’s just consistent and nostalgic enough to earn some respect. They’ve really redefined the playlist game.”

The award will be released at the class of 2017’s commencement ceremony, where the DJ will presumably present a playlist in place of an acceptance speech.
