PALO ALTO — Jason Duane, a man lucky enough to be born into a financially secure family, recently reported that having money is not, in fact, related to satisfaction with your life. “Just take me for example. My dad bought me these video games I asked for, but he still doesn’t love me,” Duane philosophized, while petting his Jack Russell terrier. “Somebody with less money than me might see me and be like, damn, I wish I could be in his shoes — Sperry moccasins. But maybe, just maybe, there’s a little bit more to life.” Furthering the pursuit of happiness, Duane decided to exchange his Sperry’s for the more humble LL Bean boat shoes.
