In Chinese culture, red represents good fortune, prosperity, and vitality. So I guess my period starting fifteen minutes into a two-hour lecture today means my pants are the luckiest place on earth right now, and my vagina is a red envelope.
I’m not entirely sure what this means for my luck this year, though, and my grandparents wouldn’t respond to my WhatsApp messages about it. I also don’t know if “started my period” translated correctly into Chinese. I might have called it “sad red time.”
According to my mom, doing laundry today washes away all my good fortune (but I don’t know if ‘good’ is the word I’d use right now.) So I guess I’ll sit in this mess and wait until 11:59 to book it to the laundry room. Gong xi fa cai or whatever.
