WESTWOOD — Third-year film student Doug Babcock has been filibustering a real conversation for three hours now, after an acquaintance made the mistake of asking him what kind of music he likes. “I like Scandinavian folk metal, underground nuevo-country, improvised sound trips—really anything you could never play at a party,” said Babcock, completely unaware of the fact that everyone within listening range had already backed out of the conversation hours ago. “I always have to be on the lookout for new music, because if I hear a song on the radio, I go home and burn that record. Sometimes I just buy home movies from estate sales and listen to them backwards.” It seems that Babcock’s rant will not end anytime soon, as he just revealed that he also makes his own music.
