Point: USAC Is An Essential Part of Student Representation

By: Janice Miller

The Undergraduate Student Association Council serves UCLA through creating programs and passing bylaws for the student body. The council’s goals revolve around creating tangible change for the students it represents. Two-hundred and seventeen dollars of our tuition goes directly to funding USAC, thus being politically conscious about USAC is essential for holding our elected officials accountable. Our campus needs an institution like USAC to fully represent the entire student body to put our needs first and foremost, where the administration may be lacking.

Counterpoint: USAC Kind Of Sounds Like Ballsack

By: Matt Michaelson

Look I get it, USAC is our school’s student government. It does stuff for students and some of that stuff is good. There’s a council of students that we elected, and they use our money to occasionally do important things. And sure, that’s great and all, but the point stands: USAC kind of sounds like ballsack.

This is simply an undeniable fact.

Regardless of all of the work USAC does each year for the student body, we cannot overlook the obvious. USAC sounds like ballsack, and there’s nothing that you or I can do to change this. No amount of umbrella solar panels or free food during finals week can distract from the reality that USAC and ballsack are a rhyming scheme.

Yes, even I can admit USAC has an impact on this campus and they do a lot for the students they represent, but at the same time we cannot disregard the truth. USAC and ballsack are extremely similar in sound, and this cannot be refuted.

I have tried again and again to move past this seemingly insignificant detail, but I cannot any longer and neither should you.
