LOS ANGELES — Amateur photographer Amber Allman was pleasantly surprised at the number of likes she received on her latest Instagram post declaring her indefinite break from social media. “I’m taking some time off IG to go outside and focus on something real,” said Allman, quoting her carefully curated caption, which was posted alongside a selfie in a flower field. “I didn’t realize that would resonate with so many other people! 507 to be exact. I definitely feel like my choice to log off has been validated and I’m so glad I don’t care about the opinions of my acquaintances anymore.” At press time, Allman was selecting a tasteful photo from her beach trip to accurately reflect how refreshed she was feeling after three days without Instagram.
